Ron Loch

MD & Sustainability Consulting Lead, G&S Business Communications


A G&S veteran, Ron leads the agency’s Chicago office with responsibilities for employee development, operations and business growth. He also heads the sustainability consulting team, collaborating with global Fortune 1000 companies and green business start-ups on strategic, integrated programs that add value to sustainability efforts and promote clean technologies. Ron moderates many of the firm’s thought leadership events, which have welcomed speakers from Businessweek, Burt’s Bees, Chicago Tribune, Cummins, The Economist, Time Magazine, The Sustainability Consortium, The World Food Prize Foundation, U.S. Green Building Council, U.N. Global Compact, and more. He oversees publication of the annual G&S Sense & Sustainability® Study, which gauges public perceptions of the corporate commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Ron graduated with a B.S. in Journalism and Mass Communications from Iowa State University, received a Master’s Certificate in Managing the Sustainable Enterprise from the Illinois Institute of Technology Stuart School of Business and has also completed the certified GRI sustainability reporting curriculum. He is an adjunct professor at Kendall College in Chicago, teaching research, analytics, metrics and reporting for sustainability.

Susan Sheehan

VP, Sustainability Consulting, G&S Business Communications


Susan recently joined G&S as Vice President, Sustainability Consulting, helping organizations evaluate their ESG performance, develop sustainability goals and enhance their reputation through targeted messaging and communications. Using proprietary analytics, Susan helps the people in finance, governance and sustainability understand and improve their ESG profile relative to peers and leaders. By building impactful CSR programs targeting the financial community and other influential stakeholders, Susan helps companies gain maximum value from their sustainability investments.Susan contributes to a variety of industry panels and events such as the RR Donnelley’s Trends in Proxy Disclosure Seminars, Environmental Finance Advisory Committee of the University of Toronto, Carbon Advantage Canada, Earth Day Community Funds Program, the Al Gore Climate Reality Institute, and Cleantech Canada. She is also the founder of Getcleantech.com, a global business matchmaking platform for cleantech companies, experts and the organizations.Susan has trained with Global Reporting Initiative, Mining Association of Canada's Toward Sustainable Mining (TSM), The Sustainability Consortium and is a FSA  Level 1 SASB candidate. She has an MBA from Richard Ivey School of Business.

Eric Fernald

Executive Director, ESG Research, MSCI


Eric Fernald is an Executive Director at MSCI, and head of MSCI ESG Research’s Corporate Communications program. He also is on the MSCI ESG Research Ratings Review Committee and organizes MSCI ESG Research’s Thought Leadership Council. Eric joined MSCI ESG Research in 2009 when MSCI acquired KLD Research & Analytics. He worked at KLD from 1995 through 2009, serving as Research Director from 2002-2009.  Eric holds a B.A. in Political Science from Williams College. MSCI is a US-based independent provider of research-driven insights and tools for institutional investors, with deep expertise in the areas of risk and performance measurement. MSCI is perhaps best known as a provider of equity indexes, including the MSCI World and MSCI EAFE Indexes.
